Over the past ten years, green finance has evolved from a niche concept into a necessary pillar of global financial systems. This article reviews the rapid expansion of sustainable financial instruments in the EU, including green bonds and ESG-driven investments, and highlights the key regulatory, institutional, and market developments that have supported this growth. It also examines the challenges that remain, such as ensuring transparency, avoiding greenwashing, and aligning financial flows with climate objectives. Ultimately, this note argues that while significant progress has been made, scaling up green finance further will require stronger coordination between public and private actors, clearer standards, and sustained political commitment.
